This project was conceptualized from the ground up to fittingly celebrate the 50th anniversary of the BMW BERLIN MARATHON, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. The 90-minute stage show at the iconic Brandenburg Gate delivered a rich program, captivating the on-site audience with a flawlessly orchestrated blend of history and emotion. A retrospective of five decades of marathon history was enriched with personal stories and memories from guests who have shaped the race over the years. Special guests, including athletes and organizers, shared their insights, recounting the journey from the marathon’s humble beginnings to its current status as an international mega-event.Musical and artistic performances from each decade brought the journey through time to life, creating a vibrant atmosphere that connected the marathon’s history with the present. Each decade was represented by a dedicated act that reflected the styles and trends of its era, offering the audience a tangible link to the evolution of the BMW BERLIN MARATHON. The show concluded with a powerful tribute to today’s running community, setting an inspiring tone for the future of the marathon.In addition to the stage show, a temporary structure known as the “Living Room of the Marathon” – MOVE – was erected at Brandenburg Gate in collaboration with another agency. This unique space served as a central exhibition area over 14 days, inviting visitors to explore the history of the BMW BERLIN MARATHON in an entirely new way. With numerous exhibits, ranging from historic race medals and bibs to iconic photographs and videos, visitors were immersed in the marathon’s evolution and the stories behind its milestones. The temporary structure provided an impressive setting that reflected the marathon’s spirit, inspiring both long-time fans and newcomers alike.From the creative concept to the technical planning of the event space and stage, every detail of the project was meticulously thought through and managed since late 2023. The seamless integration of all elements – from the stage show to the exhibition – created a cohesive overall experience. This combination of a spectacular live show and an engaging exhibition allowed audiences, both on-site and remote, to gain a vivid and authentic insight into the marathon’s significance and its deep-rooted connection to Berlin’s history.Through this unique production, the 50th anniversary of the BMW BERLIN MARATHON became a celebration that united the past, present, and future of the event in a remarkable way. It was a project that not only honored the legacy of the marathon but also spotlighted the emotional bond between the city of Berlin, its residents, and the iconic race.
