HALF MARATHON EXPO The Sports Community ConventionOrganizing a trade fair like the Berlin Half Marathon Expo 2023 on the expansive grounds of the former Tempelhof Airport was a highly complex logistical and organizational challenge. Spanning a total area of 150,000 m² with a 10,000 m² exhibition space, such an event required not only meticulous planning but also the ability to manage numerous challenges effectively. From handling the race number distribution for thousands of participants to coordinating various temporary structures such as pagodas, exhibition booths, and truss systems, every detail had to be carefully considered. The complexity was heightened by the need to synchronize the logistical requirements of suppliers, exhibitors, and service providers. This included planning access routes, ensuring timely deliveries, and managing the seamless setup and teardown of structures. Technical planning was another critical aspect, particularly the integration of power and water supply, lighting, safety measures, and emergency exit planning. The historical nature of the venue added an extra layer of complexity, often requiring customized solutions to meet both operational and regulatory demands. Additionally, the event required effective communication and coordination with various stakeholders, including authorities, sponsors, exhibitors, and service providers. Each of these elements contributed to delivering a challenging yet highly impactful trade fair experience for all participants.
